All datasets accessed through CivicApps.org are confined to public information and must not contain personal or privileged information as defined by law, or other information that is protected by other statute, practice, or legal precedent.
All information accessed through CivicApps.org is in compliance with the required confidentiality, integrity, and availability controls mandated by the submitting organization or Data Owner’s jurisdiction. The submitting organization or Data Owner is required to follow State and Federal security regulations, and may be required to withdraw access to or “scrub” certain data.
All information accessed through CivicApps.org must be in compliance with current privacy requirements, including the submitting organization or Data Owner jurisdiction’s administrative rules.
All information accessed through CivicApps.org is subject to Public Records Retention rules. The submitting organization or Data Owner ensures datasets accessed through CivicApps.org are in compliance with their own record retention requirements.
Data accessed through CivicApps.org do not include controls over its end use. However, as the Data Owner or authoritative source for the data, the submitting organization or Data Owner must retain version control of datasets accessed. Once the datasets have been downloaded, the Data Owner cannot vouch for their quality and timeliness. Furthermore, the Data Owner cannot vouch for any analyses conducted with data retrieved from CivicApps.org.
The submitting organization or Data Owner’s preferred citation for each dataset is included in its metadata. Users should also cite the date that data were accessed or retrieved from CivicApps.org. Finally, users must clearly state that "CivicApps.org and Data Owner cannot vouch for the data or analyses derived from these data after the data have been retrieved from CivicApps.org."
Recommendations from individuals, groups and organizations regarding the presentation of data, data types, and metadata will contribute to the evolution of CivicApps.org.
Nothing in this Data Policy alters or impedes the submitting organization or Data Owner’s ability to carry out their responsibilities, nor does this Data Policy limit the protection afforded any information by other provisions of law. This Data Policy is intended only to improve the internal management of information controlled by the submitting organizations and is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable by law or in equity, by a party against the submitting organization, its officers, employees, or agents.
