Two days to bring a region together, exploring opportunities to open government, increase civic engagement, and coordinate projects across governments. Now is the time to move from old models and technology to finding innovative, cost efficient, and transparent methods for accomplishing government’s core missions.
Open Gov West (OGW) exposes attendees to new ideas, technologies, practices, and partnerships. The conference’s goal is to help your organization build relationships and gain insights which help you build a more transparent, engaged government.
When: Friday/Saturday, May 13-14, 2011
Where: Jupiter Hotel & Bossanova Ballroom, 722 E Burnside, Portland, OR 97214
See http://ogw.ticketleap.com/open-gov-west-2011 for registration info.
To promote collaboration among participants and organizers, a “CiviCode Day” will be held each development round. This will be an "unconference" styled event with developers, Data Providers, and any interested parties to share ideas, collaborate, and discuss any issues surrounding the datasets. Food will be provided.
Date: 6/03/2010
Venue: Hacker's Lounge, Open Source Bridge Conference
Each development round culminates in a “Best of Show” awards ceremony to publicly honor the best entries for that round. Judges rate apps using defined criteria and award a few “blue ribbons” and lots of “red ribbons”. Judges may also hand out discretionary awards. In addition, anyone can vote for the app to win the “Civic Choice” award. Participants vote for the “Participant Choice” award. In general, the bulk of awards will be relatively "small" in order to reward as many people as possible for authentic submissions. Check out Awards & Prizes for details.
