I think people concentrate too much on crime issues. This is what I also notice even at my http://omniglot.com/language/articles/englishistricky.htm. And this is sad.

It seems that the zip file is empty...

rnixon :: January 5, 2016 - 4:59pm

The zip file is intact. It's about 10Mb however. Let me know if you'd like me to email it to you. Thanks.

The coordinate system isn't listed in the file or the off-site metadata. Does anyone have this information?

mohnerplex@gmail.com :: February 4, 2016 - 2:02pm

I have the same question. What are the X and Y listed in the spreadsheet, as they are not lat/long.

rnixon :: February 4, 2016 - 5:38pm

I suspect they are State Plane coordinates.

mohnerplex@gmail.com :: February 5, 2016 - 1:55pm

Good call, thank you! http://www.earthpoint.us/StatePlane.aspx (and probably other tools) will convert these to lat/long correctly if you use 3601 as the zone and US Survey Feet.

Just to be explicit, that looks to be ESRI:102726 Proj4: +proj=lcc +lat_1=44.33333333333334 +lat_2=46 +lat_0=43.66666666666666 +lon_0=-120.5 +x_0=2500000 +y_0=0 +ellps=GRS80 +datum=NAD83 +to_meter=0.3048006096012192 +no_defs

mrkepler :: June 1, 2016 - 12:54pm

The coordinates should be in Oregon North

joe.dunn :: June 17, 2016 - 4:45pm

Has anyone converted this entire data file to long/lat? Or is there a simple software to do the conversion?

What excellent ideas! Something I did with my kids (and now do with my grandchildren) is keep my shopping list within easy reach then ask them if there is anything they need when I go shopping. They write it on the list since I’ve told them I will forget if it is not written down

Does anyone know where I can find the 2016 Crime Data?
