This is a great public dataset to have! How excellent! Thanks so much! I know that someone is going to do something really excellent with this.
I saw 500+ records in the .cvs file. Why did you say it has more than 1800 publicly owned artwork? Am I missing something here?
Here is a map of the locations of the artwork here. http://rpubs.com/ww44ss/161381 Note that the data as downloaded from the site are a mess and require significant cleaning. If you look at my github you can get a cleaner version of the data.
In skimming the database, I noticed several lat,lon positions that seemed to be geocoded from the address of, for example, the park the sculpture is in, rather than being the lat, lon of the artwork itself. This is an important difference for artworks that appear in large spaces, such as parks.
