This app will locate nearby public recycling containers (standard on street as well as processors of less common recyclables—block polysterene, plastic bags, etc.).

Other ideas include locating stores/organizations where you can reuse, repair, share, or maintain goods. Also accesses garbage, recycling, and yard debris/food scrap pick-up schedule for a specific Portland address.

Cool idea.

I guess this is a very good idea and a smart one. This could help minimizing the problems of the community on garbages and this could help too for better waste management. The community could learn a lot from this app too for better waste segration and proper placing of their trashes. Recycling is also being promoted which is very good.

I don't think we need an app to find a recycling bin, but I'd sure like a recycle everything guide. Like enter the thing you've got a find out where to put it/take it. There is too much generality in most lists. Where do fluorescent lights go? Clear plastic jars used for snacks? Blister pack packaging? Plastic screw-on lids? Electric wire? I want one place to enter an item and have it tell me blue bin, green bin, trash, recycle center, whatever.

Definitely interested in this + toxic waste disposal options (halogen bulbs, batteries, electronics with mercury, etc.) It would be lovely to combine that with a simple guide for everyday recycling too like Springerj suggests.
