Sort of like the "Rapid Movement" idea...
BUT, not relying on real-time sensors or feedback about how traffic lights are coordinated.
BECAUSE: City planners and engineers have already designed things to favor certain uses over others: E.g. Some streets are set up as North-South corridors for cars. Some streets are intended as East-West corridors for bicycles. And so on.
And the timing of traffic lights and locations of traffic calming devices will be implemented with these design goals in mind.
SO THE IDEA IS: Put all of the city's high-level route and street designations into data form. Because, if route-planning software could take these designations into account, the trips will be much happier and safer.
